"Just Being"..... what is that? :)

This is a great thing to work on! Just about the only time I feel this way is when I am in nature, sitting by a flowing river, or running up a switch back trail. When I am in nature, I just am and I appreciate everything about my body, my place, everything. I think possibly this is why I am drawn to the outdoors, maybe it gives my brain a break from all the "need-tos" the "shoulds" and all the "ego-think".

Alex - thanks for that link. I plan to read what your friend wrote tonight or tomorrow morning. On top of that, I'd love to share more of what I learned this past weekend. Perhaps I'll email you offline.

The concept of "connection" is one which is very present in my mind. I think it's at the center of many of people's desires... especially those who choose to augment their skills in the dating/social arena.

On that tip, My friend Andrew has posted an interesting piece on "<a href="http://www.becomingcyborg.com/2008/07/the-illusion-of-self/" rel="nofollow">The Illusion of Self</a>," upon which I've commented further on this subject (our drive for connection).

I"d be interested to hear more of the topics discussed at this meeting, as well as any specific techniques (though, meditation, whatever) that you can share.

Thanks!
